Walking: It takes approximately 25 minutes to walk between the SEAS campuses in Allston and Cambridge. A map of SEAS and the surrounding area is here.

Bus: The Harvard Shuttle operates on both weekdays and weekends throughout the academic year, and there are several routes that cross the river. You can view real-time shuttle locations here.

The M2 line of the Longwood shuttle runs between Harvard Square and Harvard Medical School with several stops in between, and is free with a Harvard ID.

On-demand Harvard van service: Evening van service is available 7pm-3am during the academic year. Click here for information about requesting a ride, as well as the non-academic year schedule. Daytime van service is available for persons who, because of physical impairment or medical condition, find it difficult or impossible to use the regular fully accessible shuttle bus. Click here for more information.

Bicycle: There are bike lanes on many of the roads around Cambridge and Allston. There are 570 bicycle parking spots near the SEC, over 400 of which are secured and/or covered spots. Visit the campus map Explore > Transportation menu to view all campus bike parking locations and bike repair stations. All bikes on campus should be registered with HUPD.

Harvard also has a partnership BlueBikes, metro-Boston’s public bike share system, and Harvard affiliates are eligible for a discount. In Allston, there are three BlueBikes stations along Western Avenue and North Harvard Street; in Cambridge there are Harvard-supported stations on Oxford Street between Pierce Hall and Cruft, as well as on Massachusetts Avenue in front of Harvard Law School and in front of Gund Hall at the Graduate School of Design.

Public Transit: The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) 86 Bus and 66 Bus connect Harvard’s Cambridge and Allston campus nodes. The MBTA 70 Bus connects Allston to Watertown, Central Square, University Park, and MIT. The Red Line of the subway system has a stop in Harvard Square. See the MBTA website for information on all of the bus, train, and other options.

Hungry?

The SEC café features breakfast, lunch, snacks, beverages, and freshly brewed Peet’s coffee.

In addition to the many options available in Harvard Square (including the Smith Campus Center) and along Massachusetts Ave heading towards Porter Square, there are a variety of retail locations near the Cambridge SEAS campus. There are cafes in Northwest LabsLISE, and the Harvard Law School, and a Clover location inside the Science Center. During the Spring, Summer, and Fall the Science Center Plaza hosts a rotating schedule of food trucks.
